Jammu & Kashmir Flood Relief
In September 2014, J&K valley was hit by one of the worst natural disasters with more than 5 lakh people affected and displaced. Several thousand villages across the state had been hit and 350 villages had been submerged. To provide relief and rehabilitation support, we ran individual and corporate fund raising campaign.
We appealed to individual and corporate donors to come forward in this national crisis and support us wholeheartedly in providing immediate relief to the flood affected citizens of Jammu & Kashmir.
Flood ravaged Jammu & Kashmir needs your support
This is the worst flood situation the valley has seen in last 60 years. Roads, homes, hospitals, shops, religious and educational institutions have been submerged in flood waters. Hundreds have lost their lives due to the floods. At least 20,000 troops worked day and night for rescuing people and providing relief materials to the affected people. Lakhs of people were stranded and had to be evacuated by the armed forces and National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF), with the Government of India calling it a national calamity too.
Indian armed forces have set up 19 relief camps across the state, providing shelter to at least 20,000 flood-affected people. Provisions were made to distribute essential food items and water bottles to them, but there is a lot more support that is required.
Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) India appeals to all of you to come forward at this time of national crisis and support us wholeheartedly in providing relief to the flood affected citizens of Jammu & Kashmir.
