Heavy rainfall has thrown life out of gear in several parts of Tamil Nadu where educational institutions and offices were closed for several days even as the situation remains grim. With roads and rail tracks submerged in water, residents of Chennai are having a harrowing time due to water-logging. The situation has been so bad that people were seen gathered on rooftops to collect the food that was being distributed as part of the relief measures. Chennai remains on tenterhooks.
With the work needed to be carried out on a war footing, the army is also using boats to rescue stranded people from many areas. But a lot more needs to be done urgently as the city remains on tenterhooks.
The worst part is rain continues incessantly, further putting the lives of many in danger. The death toll has already crossed 269 and thousands have been forced to take shelter in relief camps.
