Intervention of project Shaksham
Project Shaksham outreached the affected villages through inclusive participation. With informed consent of resident communities, the CBOs, District administration it proposed to support Pandukeshwar village under disaster mitigation and skill development. The list of activities aligned establishment of protection wall on the devastated embankment from the impact of rivulet Vishnu Ganga and Alaknanda river. The situation of dwindling embankment posed immediate threat to the community from the fear of being washed away. While under skill development the project identified cutting and tailoring and poultry for enhanced livelihoods. Community – Government – NGO convergence was also seen as thrust area to enable community and government to collectively address situation at ground and for collective mobility.
The list of activities proposed for implementation were as follows:
- Establishment of Protection wall by the Vishnu ganga rivulet
- Skill Development under Cutting and tailoring to 30 beneficiaries
- Skill development under Poultry Cultivation to 33 beneficiaries
- Community mobilization with collective corporation of Government, PRIs, CBOs, Mahila Mangal Dals, SHGs, NGOs and active social mobilizers
