As the monsoon hits India, it ravages parts of the country, causing more damage than respite. Vulnerable communities across Gujarat, Maharashtra, Assam and Telangana have been badly affected as floods break embankments, submerge houses, damaging crops and lands. The floods have further aggravated the challenges faced by women and children, who are more vulnerable during a crisis and lack access to basic needs, like food, access to critical personal hygiene, sanitation healthcare, etc.
As the death toll crosses 500, and more than 10 lakh people displaced, there is an urgent humanitarian need to support communities who are at the brink of the crisis, and are still recuperating from the shadows of the pandemic.
CAF India along with its partner NGOs is working in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Assam and Telangana to provide Health Care Interventions, Dry Ration, Survival Kits, Personal Hygiene Kits, etc as a first response.
